One of the greatest sources for indoor air pollution identified by the EPA are "furniture made of certain pressed wood products." Greencradle uses NO pressed woods of any sort. No particle board, plywood, MDF etc., is used in any of our furnishings. Only 100% solid oak, ash, maple, walnut, cherry, sycamore & bamboo. No formaldehyde or other chemicals to worry about. Only heirloom pieces.

All our furniture is hand-made in the U.S. Most furnishings today are manufactured in China and elsewhere in Asia, and may not live up to US health and safety standards.

Green Cradle sources its lumber from sustainably grown forests in the U.S.  The lumber is cured by a three month air drying period and then it goes through a kiln dry process which reduces the moisture content of wood before its use.  Unlike most furniture manufacturers, Green Cradle does not use any sort of wood pressure treatments because that is a heavy chemical preservative treatment that we believe is not safe.  It is popular these days for companies to advertise that a piece of furniture is eco-friendly, but that doesn't make it healthy! Wood that is usually coated with toxic chemicals is not friendly to our environment. To the contrary, benzene, toluene, chlorine, formaldehyde and other chemical treatments routinely applied to furniture are hardly eco-friendly when they are disposed of and pollute our air and water (not to mention the air in our own homes).
